Reconnecting with Maryland Women of Worship Writers

Christian Writers and Friends:

Thanks for connecting with me via LinkedIn and Facebook! It’s exciting to see so many of your smiling faces, renew old friendships, and to receive emails from you. It was like a reunion as the steady stream of connection acceptances appeared in my inbox.

Don’t forget to connect with this page too. Previews and some details of the first contest for the Maryland Women of Worship Online Magazine will be released on this page under the “MDWOW Contest” category throughout March, April, and until May 18th.

Here’s the first Hint for March:  Devotions and articles will be accepted. Did I say there will be  monetary winnings for the contest? Yes, that’s right! Cash winnings will be of various amounts.

Don’t forget the Maryland Women of Worship Online Magazine goes live on May 7th!

  1. I’ve had several emails asking about giving donations to our ministry. Currently, we are registered to operate in the State of Maryland as an Incorporation and in “Good Standing.” However, I am still undecided about filing for a 501 (c)(3). Non-Profit status. We stopped short, just at the Not-for-Profit status. I plan on making a decision before next tax filing season. I just don’t know how much power I want to allow the government to have. And, I tend to be a little too political to feel comfortable with the government breathing down my neck.

In case you wonder about the difference between non-profit and not-for-profit, here is a definition:

The term “not-for-profit organization” (NFPO) is used as a broad-based term that encompasses all organizations that are known variously as charities, non-profits, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private voluntary organizations (PVOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), etc

So, basically, at this time, we will receive gifts but we can not honor them as tax-deductible.

    Thanks for asking.
