ShopRite Supermarket comes to 4600 Block of Liberty Heights Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland

It has been a 12 year wait. Yesterday, September 10, 2011 the Kick-off for our new neighborhood supermarket was held at the old Howard Park Super Pride site.  Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Congressman Elijah Cumings, Sandy Rosenburg, mayoral hopefuls like  Jodie Landers, volunteers from offices of Otis Rolley and Maurice Smallwood, and other City officials, were present. BUILD representatives blue tee shirts were numerous. Actually, there was a nice crowd of politicians and neighbors excited about the next step for the long-waited return of a supermarket to the Howard Park community. “The Klein family operates seven ShopRites in Maryland. At a meeting last Friday, Marshall Klein said the new store would be their largest (68,000 SF) and would include community meeting rooms, a nurse practitioner clinic, pharmacy and possibly a social services center. The store is slated to open early in 2013.” (Baltimore Brew) Now when the tearful remembrances of the anniversary of 911 comes around we can look back to this date for a bit of joy…the supermarket revival. Thanks, ShopRite!
